'Creación en Movimiento'
Centro de la Imagen, México City
2020-2021
Creación en Movimiento was the group show of the 2019-2020 generation of the Jóvenes Creadores program of FONCA,
it was held in Centro de la Imagen during the pandemic for 3 months.
“This project arises as a result of a constant search for identity and the naive advent deriving from Da-dá; wondering how the exterior builds us? What pieces do we place and which ones do others place? Concluding that we are all beings made of lego and the presence of each particle of our identity is not controlled by ourselves, and probably what builds from the outside is not aware of it either.“ Pamela Sustaita

'Room for 3'
WISH LESS gallery, Tokyo Japan
2020
Room for 3 was a group show with the work of Misa Sugata,
Pamela Sustaita and Yokey, curated by Rob Kidney and Yoko Nagai.
“Pamela’s work is nostalgic and mystical, her world is inhabited by cute characters and naive motifs executed with sensitive mark making.  Misa produces unique and mind-bending animation with clever use of primitive characters. YOKEY’s charming ceramics focus on and abstract the features that she loves of animals and humans.

In this exhibition, they will be showing their strong sensibility using the different media of illustration, animation and pottery.“ Wish Less

With The Glimpse of Your Eyelashes
Los Angeles, California at Leimin gallery, 2019

“With the Glimpse of Your Eyelashes is a series of personal drawings, paintings and sculptures. The pieces are largely phantasmagoric-a chunky string of cartoon animals, blocky Japanese words and finely rendered figures populate the white-backed drawings. Their sparing but sharp pigmentation shares a palette with Lei Min Way: solid yellows, blues, and reds hop around the space and remind one of their first day of elementary school. Lego blocks are strewn throughout the display, some come alive with faces painted upon them by the Artist. Echoing the Legos, the larger pieces are built up of smaller panels. The pieces explore the elemental nature of memory and self, bringing together shards of images culled from pop media, city life, and the digital world. In particular, Sustaita reconciles a split identification with her time spent living in México and her time spent working in Japan. While the individual pieces are built up of readymades collected from simpler times, they are often poisoned by darker undertones. Children and inner-children are welcomed to come in andplay in Sustaita’s delirious dreamland.“  Schelsey Mahammadie-Sabet
